HALLOWEEN PARTY FOOD & BEVERAGE

Halloween Party FoodNothing will impress your Halloween Costume Party guests like a banquet table filled with an assortment of tasty Halloween treats. Making your own treats, particularly traditional ones, is a lot of fun and can be very fulfilling when you see the pleasure your home-made creations bring to your friends and family. Although not quite as impressive as home-made, buying some or all pre-made treats for the party can save you a lot of time. If your party is last minute, or if you have no time to prepare food, you can always cater the party through a local catering company.

Halloween Party CandyAs part of your Halloween Party Checklist, plan out what the menu of food and beverage will be, and all of the ingredients you will need. Home cooked food should be made as close to the time of the party as is possible, so that it will be as fresh as possible. Party guests tend to get hungry, so be sure to have plenty of food and drink available. Always remember that appearance and presentation is just as important as the actual food being served. Visit the Halloween Online Recipes section for a terrific collection of Halloween recipes. Below are some suggestions that can help you plan the food and beverage aspects of your next Halloween party.

Beverages
Below are some of our favorite beverages for serving at a Halloween party. You may also want to have a selection of canned soda on hand for those that just can't live without it. Make sure that you have some paper towels and clean dish towels handy just in case of accidental spills.

Apple Cider (must be fresh - can be served hot or cold)
Halloween Punch (your favorite punch recipe)
Hot Chocolate (topped with whipped cream or mini-marshmallows)
Hot Spiced Tea

Tasty Treats
What would a Halloween party be without all those sweet treats to eat. Below are the staples of a well stocked Halloween banquet table.

Cake and/or Cupcakes
Pumpkin Pie (topped with whipped cream)
Halloween Cookies (decorated)
Carmel/Candy Covered Apples
Halloween Candy (store bought or homemade)
Spooky Shaped Jell-O Molds
Carmel Corn or Rice Crispy Treats

Finger Food
You guests will probably get hungry for more than candy and other sweet treats throughout the party, so a selection of food snacks like Chips and Dip, Mini Sandwiches, Fingers in a Blanket, Sliced Pizza, Cheese and Crackers, Deviled Eggs, etc. should be available for them to eat. For safety reasons, try to avoid food that requires your guests to use a knife for cutting. Provide lots of cocktail picks, napkins and at least one set of serving tongs for picking up food.

Finger Sandwich Snack Tray
Cheddar and Monterey Jack Cheese (pre-cut into cracker sized slices)
A selection of crackers such as Ritz and Club Crackers
Sliced Pepperoni and Salami

Full Course Meals
If you are actually hosting a sit-down Halloween dinner party, you will want to serve fancy hors d'oeuvres, soup and/or salad, the main course entree and a dessert. Try to avoid food that is really messy to eat. Another option is to order one of those huge party sandwiches from your local sandwich shop. For a sit-down dinner, consider printing some spooky place cards to sit on the table.
