HALLOWEEN PARTY THEME - CLASSIC PARTY

Halloween Party Theme - Costume
At a traditional Halloween costume party your guests should wear any kind of costume that they want, be it a Pirate, a giant rabbit, clown or whatever. Make sure that the invitations let them know that this is an un-themed costume party, that they can wear what they like.

If you plan on giving prizes for costumes, you could have "The Most Creative", The Best Couple", "The Most Halloween Related". Make sure and add this info to the invitations so your guests will know that they should go all out for this costume party! You can either make prize ribbons for each category or by some inexpensive prizes to give out.

Costumes - A traditional Halloween costume party is basically "come as you want" as far as the type of costume your guests wear. Couples dressed in matching or complementary costumes are a great way for couples to enjoy Halloween night. If they need some help deciding, send them over to Halloween Online and Adult Halloween Costumes for some great Halloween costume and makeup suggestions.

Decorations - Pretty much anything goes, just be sure to use plenty of orange and black. Strings of orange and purple mini-lights can be strung around the main room. You can get some great ideas for decorating by visiting the Decorations section of Halloween Online. Putting up a Halloween tree for the month of October will get you in the party planning mood! You'll find it makes a very festive decoration for your party, too!

Refreshments - Have a large selection of "finger" foods, dips and beverages on hand. Set it all up on a decorated table. For some treat ideas, check out the  Halloween Online Recipe section. You could go with traditional treats like caramel apples, pop corn balls, and roasted pumpkin seeds. If you would like a more solid food, try a Jack-O-Lantern pizza. Also make sure you have plenty of chips, fresh veggies and dip. Don't forget the punch and other beverages!

Music - Place a portable CD player outside playing some type of ambient music to greet your guest as they arrive. For indoor music we like the Elvira collection of Halloween music. There are three of them and they all feature new and old Halloween music plus some songs by sung Elvira herself. If you have a dance floor, you will want a selection of Halloween dance music. See our Entertainment section for more suggestions.

Entertainment - At least one Halloween party game is a must. "Bobbing for Apples" and the telling of ghost stories are always great choices. For lots of Halloween party game suggestions visit the Halloween Games 101 website.  If you have the space, an area set aside for people to dance in should be included. Just remember to put away any valuables or breakables in case the party gets a little wild!
