Costumes
- Mummy
costumes are available for purchase at costume shops or
you can make your own using lots of gauze or torn white
sheets. Help out
those that you invite with some suggestions on mummy
costumes and makeup.
Halloween Online's costume section has
a useful article about mummy costumes.
Decorations
- Egyptian
styled decorations with a fake sarcophagus as the
centerpiece. Replacing
the regular light bulbs in your lamps with yellow colored
bulbs are a great way to help set the mood. Find, or
make using Paper-Mache, Canopic jars decorated like the
Four Sons of Horus like the ones used to store organs,
mini sarcophagus to place around the table, anything
with an Egyptian fell to it. Statues of Bast, Horus,
Osiris, Isis all add to the feel.
Refreshments
- Finger food such as "Fingers in a Blanket",
"Marshmallow Mummies", brain molds and other organ molds
using Jell-O are a great touch to the other treats being
served.
Lemonade flavored punch served in a Halloween punch
bowl. Use a glowing punch with the instructions from
Halloween Online.
Music
- Exotic middle eastern type music is just the ticket
for this type of party. You can also use the soundtrack
from the Mummy movies, old and new. If there will be
dancing you'll want something a little more lively. Use
some Halloween compilation CDs to get the dancing
started. See our
Entertainment section
for more suggestions.
Entertainment
- If the party will include games, you can always find
games to convert to a Halloween theme. Try Halloween
Pictionary using old horror movies, skip anything that
will be too hand intensive in case people have wrapped
up hands that they can't undo easily. For lots of Halloween party game suggestions visit the
Halloween Games 101
website.
